History

In 1981, SDB Contracting Services landed a small office renovation job for Motorola, Inc. Throughout the renovation, SDB recognized the intensive construction requirements of this market type and focused their resources on the cleanroom manufacturing environment. SDB remains committed to the same clients they built partnerships with early on, as well as many new clients. This experience, where safety is paramount, is where SDB built a stellar reputation in mission-critical, occupied environments.

SDB has been listed as The Valley’s Most Recognized Cleanroom Contractor, five years in a row (Ranking Arizona Business Magazine) working for Motorola, STMicroelectronics, On-Semiconductor, Rodel Corporation, and the world’s largest chip manufacturer. SDB performs projects ranging from new fabrication facilities such as Motorola’s MOS 21M class 10 cleanroom ($80M, 40,000 SF) to modest door hardware repairs. Today, SDB’s general contracting and design-build clients include healthcare, higher education, airports, municipalities, and general commercial projects. In addition, SDB self-performs a variety of services and prides itself on the results achieved for its clients. SDB proactively identifies solutions and makes the job of the facility or building owner easier. With offices in Arizona, Oregon, and Texas, SDB consistently delivers and we’re ready to go to work for you!

Safety

Safety is not just a priority at SDB; it is the cornerstone of our identity as contracting service providers. Our unwavering dedication to the safety of each employee and client is exemplified through the presence of a Vice President of Safety and Risk Management and a dedicated Safety Department. This team is the first to arrive, meeting with clients and developing site-specific safety plans for projects. Their objective is to advise management and supervisory personnel on safe work practices, supply necessary information to comply with the company’s safety program and OSHA regulations, and ensure proper record-keeping.

SDB employees with occupational exposure receive training through OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses. Our Safety Department is led by a Vice President of Safety and Risk Management and staffed with field supervisors. At each job site, a Project Supervisor, trained in OSHA 30, monitors job safety. Their role includes overseeing daily on-site working practices, maintaining quality and safety compliance, and coaching employees to prevent accidents and hazards. Safety officials conduct routine inspections of construction sites to observe working conditions and verify that safety practices are rigorously upheld. Presently, SDB maintains an outstanding Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.57, underscoring our unwavering commitment to safety and excellence.

0.57 Safety Rating

This is evidence of the company’s continuous commitment to safety on all projects. SDB proactively protects our team, trade partners/subcontractors, end-use groups and most importantly the public.

Community

Embedded within SDB’s culture is a commitment to giving back to the communities we serve. We believe in the power of service and actively engage in initiatives including hosting, sponsoring, participating in, and donating to various causes.

A standout example of our dedication is the annual SDB Golf Classic. Since its inception in 2008, this event has raised nearly $650,000 in support of Disabled American Veterans of Arizona. Additionally, our contributions to Phoenix Children’s Hospital have surpassed $100,000, underscoring our ongoing support for vital community institutions.

Our team eagerly embraces yearly traditions such as the Turkey Drive and Giving Tree activities, bringing joy and hope to those less fortunate during the holiday season.

At SDB, philanthropy isn’t merely a side pursuit; it’s woven into the fabric of our identity. It’s a tangible expression of our values and our commitment to making a positive impact on the world around us.
